Acts Chapter 7

Q: What is the conclusion that St. Stephen wants to reach in his speech?
A: Watch out because you might be resisting and rejecting Christ just like your grandfathers were stiff necked and resisted the Prophets.

Q: What are the similarities between Moses and Christ?
A: Christ saves us from the slavery of sins and Moses saved the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. Christ baptizes us in the water and Moses made them cross the sea. Christ gives us his Body and Blood to grant us eternal life and Moses fed them Manna from heaven.

Q: Did the Israelites obey Moses? What did they do when he was late on the mountain?
A: No. They made a calf and offered it sacrifices.

Q: In his martyrdom, in what way was Stephen like Christ?
A: He asked God not to charge those who stoned him with this sin.

Q: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:23), “You are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you” (1Cor 3:16). Find a verse in the sermon of St. Stephen that may hint to these meanings.

A: “However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says: “Heaven is My throne, And earth is My footstool. What house will you build for Me? Says the Lord, Or what is the place of My rest? Has My hand not made all these things?”” (Acts 7:48-50)
